"I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me." Galatians 2:20
Will Smith’s SHOCKING Reveal on His Marriage Vs Bible

The famous actor Will Smith recently did an interview with GQ magazine titled “Will Smith Speaks His Truth: Introducing the Real Will Smith” And as you read this interview, you’ll find many shocking things that Will Smith says, that just makes you wonder, “What is he talking about?” Especially if you’re coming from a Christian perspective.

Trust and Freedom?

When he discusses marriage in the interview, he said this:

“We have given each other trust and freedom…” he and his wife “…with the belief that everybody has to find their own way. And marriage for us can’t be a prison. And I don’t suggest a road for anybody.”

“But the experiences that the freedoms we’ve given one another and the unconditional support, to me, is the highest definition of love.”

According to Will Smith, the highest definition of love is to allow your spouse and yourself to commit adultery and to have infidelity in the marriage.

In another place, Will Smith says:

“If it came down to it, then one can say to the other, ‘Look, I need to be with somebody else, I’m not going to if you don’t approve of it, but please approve of it.”

And Jada, the wife says:

“Will and I both can do whatever we want because we trust each other.”

I am so confused! How can you trust each other when both of you are breaking the boundaries of trust in the marriage? And what breaks my heart even further is to find out Will Smith himself saying that he had a Christian upbringing.

“Whereas in my mind, in my Christian upbringing, even my thoughts were sins. That was really the process that Michaela, the intimacy coach, worked me through to let me realize that my thoughts were not sins, and even acting on an impure thought didn’t make me a piece of sh*t. “

Deceiving Doctrines

This is in direct opposition to the teachings of Jesus. Jesus says:

“If you even lust in the mind, you’ve committed adultery in the heart.”

Hebrews 11:38

And the reason why we’re spending so much time looking at this is because the scripture warns us in 1 Timothy 4:1,

“Now the Spirit says in the last days, some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons. Speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron.”

1 Timothy 4:1

When you hear any kind of teacher or coach telling you to go opposite of what the teachings of the bible say, then you know, these are doctrines of demons. How can you find comfort in committing adultery, sinning against your wife, breaking her trust, and calling that good and the highest form of love?

The Real Greater Love

Jesus says this is what greater love is. In John 15:13, He says:

“Greater love has no one than this than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

John 15:13

And Jesus didn’t just talk about it. He did it. He poured himself out on the cross of Calvary so that today you and I if we repent of our sins and trust in Him, can have eternal life. But the world today does not want to hear that. They want to twist what the real definition of love is. Love is doing whatever you feel is right, giving each other freedom to do whatever they want. That in itself is not love and it’s not true freedom. That is bondage.

If you see a child going onto the stove, he’s about to touch that stove that’s burning hot are you going to say, “Oh, just have the freedom and do whatever you want.” No, that’s stupidity. Because you know that child’s going to burn the hand. It’s going to cause harm to themselves.

In 2 Timothy 4:3, it says

“For the time will come and they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires. They will have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions and do the work of an evangelist.”

2 Timothy 4:3

Are we not seeing this today? How tragic it is in our society and in our culture today, people and kids and different people look up to celebrities, leaders that they are walking away from the truth. But I can imagine God being in heaven grieved, not only with Will Smith and this marriage with his wife but the people in this end-time hour that are buying into these doctrines of demons.

What is more important for you and me as we look at examples like this is not just to say, “Oh well, this is really bad for Will Smith, but it is us seeing the Holy Spirit.” What is in our lives right now that we don’t even realize whether it’s buying into the norms of the culture, what society says is right, or even some celebrity pastor, religious leaders that tell us certain things are okay when in fact it is NOT okay in the sight of God.

When we search our hearts and ask the Holy Spirit to guide us because we want to abide by the teachings of Christ, because Jesus says, “If you abide in me and my word remain in you, then you will bear much fruit.” (John 15:4)

As the body of Christ, let us pray for Will Smith, pray for his marriage, and pray for other people who we know have walked away from the Lord. When we give our devotion and commitment to God daily seek his face because it’s only through this intimacy with God that we can live a life pleasing to God. Or else this is just going to be behavioral modification and that doesn’t do anything.

God is not after a life that we just do this and don’t do this, God is after a life that He can live through us so that we can live a new way of life that is kingdom-minded and kingdom-centered in Jesus Christ. May we live our lives always with the heart of worship.

May you continue to remain the grace of God.

God bless you!
