The marriage supper of the Lamb.
Perhaps you’ve heard of this term or you have not. But what it says here in the bible is that this is the time that Jesus is going to come back. He’s going to call his true believers to Him and they’re going to have a celebration.
This is when Jesus, the bridegroom is going to meet the bride, the true church, the remnant. Not just those who go to church, not just those who sing songs and give money to the church today, but those who truly repent and trust in Jesus and render their lives to Him and walk with Him every day. These are the ones who are blessed, who will be called to the marriage supper of the Lamb.
And as Christians, as people who love God, and want to follow Jesus, it is so important to look into our lives and see in the scriptures, whether we’re ready to see God. Because it says here that people have to make themselves ready. And it is not automatic in Revelation 19:6, it says
“Hallelujah! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his wife has made herself ready.” (Revelation 19:7)
“And for her, it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.“ (Revelation 19:7)
It says here that His wife, the church has made herself ready. Doing what? Doing the righteous acts of the saints. And that is exactly what we’re going to talk about in this blog post. The four things that you and I can continue doing so that we’re ready for the coming of Jesus.
Many Christians today don’t realize that as Christians, we have works to do. Yes, I said the word works. Works show us that our faith is genuine to the Lord, Jesus Christ. And yet today, so many people don’t want to hear about works because anything about works, you’re adding into your salvation. But that is not true. Over and over in the bible. If you just read it as it is you will find that those who truly believe in Jesus. They live a completely different lifestyle. And even the book of James tells us that faith without works is dead.
It is such a common scripture that people know and yet how many of us actually practice it? And so here are the four things that we must do if we want to prepare ourselves for the coming of Jesus.
We have to provide for the poor, visit the orphans and the widows because this is what the word of God says,
Pure and undefiled religion is this: visiting the orphans and the widows in their time of need. (James 1:27)
And the bible talks about he who gives the poor lends to the Lord. (Proverbs 19:17) Because when you’re ministering and giving necessities to the poor, those who are really poor, then you’re giving unto the Lord and God remembers that.
In fact, this is such an important topic that Jesus has to devote the whole parable in Matthew 25 talking about the separation of the sheep and the goats saying that on the day when He returns, He’s not saying He’s going to look at your faith and say, “Oh, did he claim to believe me? Did he sit in the church pew on Sunday, every Sunday, and pay the money?” He didn’t say that.
He says when He comes back, He’s going to separate the sheep and the goats. And the only criteria he’s going to look at is whether you have given to the poor, whether you minister to the least of His brethren. And Jesus warns on that day there will be people who call him “Lord, Lord Jesus, God we believe in You!” And He’s going to say “Depart from Me!” and He’s going to say to them, “This is why you have to depart from Me because when I was naked, you did not clothe Me; When I was hungry, you did not feed Me; When I was thirsty, you didn’t give Me a drink.” (Matthew 25:42-43)
Then the goats would say to Jesus and say, “Lord, when did we not do any of these things to you?” (Matthew 25:44) And Jesus says, in as much as you did not do it to the least of these brethren — the people who are in need, the people who are suffering. (Matthew 25:45) You didn’t even care for them. All you care was just paying this money to the building that you’re going to every week, and you’re not helping the people who are in need. Actually need my help, you didn’t minister to them. And so because you didn’t do that, then your faith is not genuine. You are going to go into the everlasting destruction that is hellfire.
And God does not want people to go there and yet those who don’t follow the commandments of Jesus by genuine faith, they’re going there. And the unfortunate thing is, when was the last time we hear this in the church? Over and over again, we just hear preachers talk about all this grace of God. God always looks at your heart as long as you have given your life to Jesus, and “just accept Him in your heart” and you go to church every Sunday and you’re fine.
If that is truly the case, then why did Jesus say that he will separate the sheep and the goats? Because Jesus says this, “If you love Me, you’ll keep My commandments.” (John 14:15)
The early church and the early believers were known to minister to the poor. They were not famous for building these huge buildings with millions and millions of dollars. So people can just go there once a week and have these air condition, nice seats and all these things to please them. Now, of course, I like it when there’s air condition and the seats are nice. But did you know that Jesus, when He comes back, He’s going to separate the sheep and the goats? He’s going to say those who truly love Him, those who truly ministered to those who are in need, they’re the ones going into the eternal kingdom.
If there are people who are around you that you know who need certain things, you help them as much as you can and we live in the day and age right now that there are numerous, numerous ministries that you can go and look at what they’re doing and they’re really ministering to the poor. You can give money to them and support those who are truly in need because when we do that, we know that we’re obeying the Lord, Jesus Christ, and not what tradition tells us that we are to do with the money that God has entrusted to us.
The righteous Acts of the Saints is preaching the gospel and having signs and wonders following us. If you read the Book of Acts, this is what the church did. They preach the gospel. People were cut to the heart there, repented and were baptized into the Kingdom of God. And then all these signs and all these miracles start to follow them.
Even the shadows of Peter would touch the sick, and even the handkerchiefs of Paul be given to people and God worked unusual signs and wonders and miracles of people who’s seen that this gospel is real, people are healed, they’re delivered, demons being cast out. This gospel that we see in the Book of Acts, calling people to repentance and preaching with power didn’t stop with the disciples. In fact, many, many people are starting to follow this pattern in the Book of Acts and preaching the Gospel the way that Jesus intended His believers to do.
And today, you have to ask yourself this question: When was the last time you preached the gospel? And shared the good news to those who haven’t heard it? When was the last time that you reached out to someone that God has laid out into our hearts. If you have not done that, this is not condemnation. This is the time to say “God, I’m so sorry that I sinned against You and I’ve not obeyed you. I wasted time on Netflix. I wasted time on social media and movies and things that don’t even matter. And I spend time on things that won’t matter in 100 years. But today I changed, I put my focus back into You, into Your kingdom. I will do the work that You called me to do. I’ll preach the gospel, heal the sick, cast out demons, cleanse the lepers and I’ll feed the poor and do the things that You called me to do because I love You and want to obey You.”
And let us not deceive ourselves and say, “Oh one day if I make a million dollars and I’ll give a lot of money into the kingdom of God.” Well let me ask you this, what are you doing with your $100? What are you doing with your $10? Because if you can’t even be faithful with the $10 with a $100 that God has given you, how can you expect God to give you $1 million? This is the principle of the Bible over and over again. He who is faithful with little will also be faithful as much. (Luke 16:10)
So if you want to promote it, if you want to be blessed, then be faithful where you are right now. In the same way that salvation is today, obedience is right now. Whatever that I have — my time, my life, my money, those are not even mine. They are entrusted to me by You, God. And I say, “God, lead me. Show me how You want me to use these things that You’ve given me so that I live for Your kingdom and not for the things of this world.”
The righteous Acts of the Saints is to abide by God’s word. This is what Jesus says: If you abide in Me and My words remain in you, then you will bear much fruit. Because apart from Me, you can do nothing. (John 15:5)
So many times when you ask someone how they’re doing, they’re like, “Oh yeah, good. Life is busy. We’re doing this. The kids to go to soccer, they need to do music, we’re going to go to different classes.” And we have all these things we’re doing and watching movies and shows and they were like “Yeah, we’re so busy.” And sometimes I ask myself, why are we so busy with things that are absolutely nonsense?
And the reason why I call them nonsense is because in 100 years none of those things are going to matter. We’re going to stand before our holy God and we’re going to say “God, I didn’t do anything you called me to do because I was busy watching Netflix. I was busy going and doing my hobbies. I was busy doing things that don’t even matter because they help me feel better about myself and I enjoy pleasure.
And I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with taking some pleasure in your life. Obviously, you want to enjoy the family God has given you, even certain leisure if they’re done modestly. It’s fine.
But when does it come to a point and you say “God I’m going to flip my priority.” Instead of saying that
“I’m going to have a short prayer meeting.”
“I’m going to have a short sermon.”
I’m going to flip it on the other side! I’m going to say
“God I’m going to spend more time in prayer.”
“I’m going to have long prayers, long sermons, long seeking time of seeking after Your kingdom.”
“Instead, I’m going to have a short watching TV, short leisure time, short things that are not even going to matter in 100 years.”
If you flip that priority, can you imagine how our life is going to change and burn on fire for the living God? And there’s absolutely no way we can do that out of our flesh, that is why we have to abide in the word of God. And that is number three. The third righteous act that we should do as we await for the coming of Jesus Christ.
This is something that Jesus talked about. We have to deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Jesus. Because Jesus says if anyone does not take up his cross, deny himself and follow after Me, he’s not worthy of Me. (Matthew 10:38) It is not an option.
Following Jesus is not something that we do and just go to an altar, we pray for like three minutes and say, “Oh God, come into my heart and everything’s going to be okay, Jesus.” If you don’t deny yourself everyday, every living moment you’re not worthy of Me.
When was the last time you hear that in the church? Do you understand why now, Jesus says the narrow path, only a few people will find it and that most people on the broad path at leads to destruction. I’ve never seen that until God woke me up with the scriptures when He talked about the separation of the sheep and the goats, the wheat and the tares. I never thought about it that way because all throughout my life, growing in church, all I hear was, “Oh God is great. Just receive and accept Jesus into your heart.”
And all these things that are maybe partial truth and not necessarily wrong, But when we take something that is partial truth and make it as the end-all and be-all, we miss the actual truth. And may this be the warning that will heed in the bible. Not everyone is going to be called to the marriage supper of the Lamb. It says blessed is he who is called to the marriage supper of the Lamb. (Revelation 16:9)
Not every “Christian” who pray the prayer, go to church every Sunday and even do certain leadership roles in the church. Not every one of those persons going to enter the Kingdom of God. That’s what Jesus says. And this is why it brings the fear of God in me, even knowing after I preach to others doing these videos, ministering to the sick, casting out demons, even doing those things. If I’m not careful and I walk away from God, I can also hear Jesus say “Depart from me!” and that’s not my goal and I say “God, never let me depart from You. Help me to always seek You, follow You because I know You’re the author and finisher of my faith.”
That’s why the apostle Paul says this, “That even I discipline my flesh, I discipline my body, lest, after I preach other people I myself also become disqualified.” (1 Corinthians 9:27) We want to make sure that we’re the ones who follow Jesus steadfast to the end and not stop halfway in our faith because that would be very tragic. Only those who prepare for the marriage supper of the Lamb with these four things that we talked about will enter the kingdom of God.
Now, I’m not saying that these four things are an exhaustive list. There are many things that the bible tells us to do and even the Holy Spirit will convict our hearts and will tell us what we are to do to follow Him, to honor Him. If we’re doing these things, I am confident that we will be on the right path following Jesus because our faith is genuine. Jesus expects to see works in our lives to know that our faith is genuine.
In the same way that if you’re the boss of the company, you expect to see works in the employees that you hire. If you see someone you just hired tell you so many great things in the interview, “I’m going to do this, I’m going to do that. I believe in this company. I believe in this vision.” And that the 1st and 2nd day you hire them, they do absolutely nothing. They go to work late and they don’t even show up to work and that caused all the troubles in your company. Are you going to keep hiring him? I think the answer is very, very simple.
And the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ is this. God has grace for us today. He’s saying today, come home son, come home daughter, I want to walk with you, I want to be with you, I want to share my life with you.
But this life is not just about going to church every Sunday and praying a prayer before meals and doing certain religious duties that were taught to do. But this is about the relationship with Me and you when you look unto Me, when you trust Me, when you abide in My word, when you meditate on things above and not on things of the earth, then you can walk up the calling that I have for you.
This is the path that God wants every Christian. every person who believe in Jesus Christ to walk on.
Share this blog post with as many as people as you can and keep following Jesus until He comes back.
God bless you!
