"I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me." Galatians 2:20
How to Overcome Hard Times with These 2 Bible Verses

If you are currently going through a rough time in your life, whether it’s you experiencing stress or anxiety because of certain things that happened, I want to give you encouragement from the Lord today in two scriptures.

When you hear these two scriptures, you may think, “Oh I’ve heard of them before.” But I assure you, stick with me until the end because I’m going to give you the background and the context of these two scriptures that many people often forget. Because it is knowing that background that you can find hope and encouragement from God Himself to you today.

Jeremiah 29:11-14

Yes, a familiar one and let me read it to you.

“For I know the thoughts that I think towards you says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all of your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord.”

Jeremiah 29:11-14

Many times people have this scripture on a bookmark or some kind of internet post and people started clicking like and they love the scripture.

But you know what? Many people forget one thing when Jeremiah was writing this, it was not so good for the people of Israel. They were in fact led into captivity in Babylon.

When all hope seems to be lost that they’re carried away, that they’re in bondage. This is when God says, “I know the thoughts I have for you, the thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. So you call upon Me that I will hear you.”

This scripture is not intended for some kind of motivational speech. The same way that this scripture in Jeremiah 21 was written in Lamentations.

Lamentations 3:22-26

We hear the scripture again in Lamentations 3:22-26, it says,

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.”

And here it is.

“They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, says my soul. Therefore I hope in Him! The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”

Lamentations 3:22-26

We have great songs just as great as Your faithfulness. Your mercies are new every morning. It’s like distinct that we’re like, “Oh, it’s so motivational, so great, so positive.”

But the book of Lamentations is also written at the time when the people of God are taken into captivity when it seems like all hope is lost. And in the midst of this trouble. God is reminding them that “I am faithful. You can trust Me and that My mercies are new every morning, that I have hope for you of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

You Can Overcome Anything with God

So today, if you are a true child of God and you’ve repented of your sins, you trust in the Lord, Jesus Christ and you’re seeking the Lord, you’re walking with Him daily, know that the Holy Spirit is with you. The promises that God is going to work together for good, all things for those who love Him.

If you love God, you’re walking with Him, know that God sees a season in your life right now. No matter how hard it is, how difficult it is, God sees the needs that you have, the troubles that you’re going through.

What you need to do is you need to fix your eyes on Jesus and not on your circumstances and not on the waves that are going around you. Because when you do that, you will sink like Peter. But if you look at Jesus, know that His promises are good, know that His promises are for you, that He’s not against you and that is how you can remain in peace.

Because the promise of God in the book of Isaiah 26:3, says,

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

God Will Take Care of Us

Praise God that we serve today a living God. We don’t serve a God that doesn’t understand our trouble.

In fact, the bible tells us that at all points, Jesus was like us and He was tempted like us. But he was victorious. (Hebrew 4:15) He overcame the world and so He says,

“Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

Even though in this world you have tribulation. The hope for us as Christians today is that one day we will go to the eternal kingdom in heaven and our home is not here on earth. But even while we’re on earth, God will take care of us, God will deliver us, God will provide for us. God is for us and He’s not against us because we are the Children of God.

When the storms beat you, you need to do what David did and encourage his own soul and say,

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who has forgiven all my sins and heals all my diseases.”

Psalm 103:2-3

At your trials, at your life difficulties, you need to tell your soul, “Hey, remember the goodness of God, remember what God has done in my life. That He’s broken the shackles of sin in my life and given me a new life in Jesus Christ, that one day I will see Him. And no matter how hard it is right now, I know that God is with me. He has a solution for me. And the Holy Spirit will guide me into victory. And even if I have to suffer and die for my faith, I will not lose anything, because to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

If we can always keep that mindset, there’s nothing that we can’t overcome in life, because Jesus is in us. With the power of the Holy Spirit, what can men do to us?

May you and I continue to look forward to the blessed hope that one day, Jesus is going to return and make everything right. And we long to see Him on that day.

Share this with as many people as you can. Share with your friends because they need to hear this and be encouraged knowing that God is for them, especially if they are children of God.

God bless you!
