A car cannot function without fuel. It can’t go. It is the same with us. The same Holy Spirit that was with Jesus Christ is in us today. We can’t go on and walk our faith without the Holy Spirit.
And so we are going to talk about those four ways, so you can continue to walk in the life of supernatural power. Not only that. So you can encounter God in a tangible way in your life.
The Holy Spirit Gives Us Supernatural Power
A lot of people know that the Holy Spirit gives us supernatural power. And He does and this is why.
In Acts 1:8, Jesus says,
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
And surely when the disciples were baptized in the Holy Spirit with tons of fire under head falling on them. They start speaking in tongues, glorifying God, and people getting saved.
- We see all that in the Book of Acts 19:12. It says that the handkerchief of Paul was taken to sick people and demons were being cast out, and people getting healed. That is supernatural power.
- In Acts 8:39, Philip after baptizing the Ethiopian eunuch was carried away supernaturally to another location. That is supernatural on its own.
- In Acts17:6 it says, These are the people that turned the world upside down. How did they do that? It was by the power of the Holy Spirit.
You have to learn how the Holy Spirit guides you today. Because when you do, He’s going to give you supernatural power, not of your own. This faith is not just this thing that we recite in prayer.
We have to understand what the bible says, but God has to give you supernatural power through the Holy Spirit. And this is what we’re talking about.
The Holy Spirit Guides You With a Deeper Relationship with Jesus
In John 16:13-14, Jesus says,
“When He, the Spirit of truth, the Holy Spirit has come, He will guide you into all truth; For He will not speak on His own authority, and whatever He hears, He will speak and He will tell you the things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take what is Mine and declare it to you.”
Today, you may hear people, “Well, God told me to do this.” and you know it’s clearly not from the bible. Some people are saying, “Well, God told me to divorce his wife and to marry another woman.” That is not going to be of God! Because the Holy Spirit will glorify Jesus and will give you a deeper relationship with Jesus. He will not guide you away from what Jesus has taught.
1 Corinthians 2:10-12
“For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. Even so, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.”
The Holy Spirit takes oneness from the Father and from Jesus. And He reveals it to you today through his word, through the inner voice that He speaks to us because we can’t live this faith just on our own intellect.
The bible says, “But the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.” You can’t just conjure some kind of intellect to try to live this life. Sometimes there are things. There are apologetics, there are reasons that we can give to people for our faith.
But there are aspects of the things of God that you won’t understand unless the Holy Spirit reveals it to you through His Word and through what He hears from heaven and He gives it to you. That’s what the bible tells us.
The Holy Spirit Guides You To Be Holy
How many times do you hear this in the church? Maybe not a lot. One of the pastors that I had in the past said, “God is not there to make you happy.” The Christian life is not about being happy, but it’s becoming holy.
When you are holy, when you’re walking the things of God, obeying Him, you will have happiness. You will have the joy of the Lord. But if you’re walking in sin, if you’re walking against the will of God, doing things that He told you not to do, not walking on the calling in your life, you’re not going to be happy.
God wants you Holy and the Holy Spirit is holy. And so He will guide you to live a holy life that pleases Him. And that is the path to eternal life.
In John 16:7-11, Jesus says:
“It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I don’t go away, the Helper, the Holy Spirit will not come. But if I depart, I will send Him to you and when He has come, the Holy Spirit will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.”
One of the roles of the Holy Spirit is to convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and judgment. Why? Because there is a judgment to come and God is holy.
Many people forget today, that God is a Holy God. We just tell people, “Oh, Jesus loves you.” which is true! Jesus loves the world. He does not want us to die in our sins. That’s why He came. And the things He doesn’t want us to continue in the lifestyle of sin, Jesus came to set us free from sin. And that’s why the Holy Spirit came to guide you to live Holy.
And so this is a question that you have to ask yourself today. Do you have the heart and desire to live a life that is holy, clean, and pure? Because if you’re not, then maybe you’re not guided by the Holy Spirit.
You need to ask God, “God, Holy Spirit, please guide me today to live a life that is holy and pleasing to You because I know that I’m going to stand before the judgment seat of Christ one day.”
And on that day, only those whose faith is genuine, only those who have really repented of their sins and trusted in Jesus Christ will enter into His Eternal Kingdom.
And so today we hear the voice of the Holy Spirit convicting you of sin, knowing certain things you shouldn’t do. Things and thoughts of the past that you’re still doing, relationships that you shouldn’t be in. Get rid of them! Because the Holy Spirit will bring His righteousness to you, showing you who you’re supposed to be in Christ.
God has called us to be a Holy Nation. Purified, washed clean by the blood of Jesus. The only way that we can be washed clean is if we repent of our sins daily, and say, “God, if there’s anything that’s not pleasing to You, I want to repent of them and want to trust in You, because I want to live a life that pleases You. That’s how the Holy Spirit guides you.
In Galatians 5:16, it says,
“Walk in the spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.”
Again, the Holy Spirit guides us to walk in the path that pleases Him to fight against the flesh. Because the flesh, this body, wants to do things that are contrary to the things of God. So today we can say, “Holy Spirit, my body, soul and spirit I submit to you, so that you can take it and that I can live a life that pleases You, and walk on that narrow path that leads to life, not for the things of the world, but for God.”
The Holy Spirit Will Remind You of the Written Word of God
The Holy Spirit is the One who has inspired all the people who have written the bible. And so he’s going to bring those words into your mind. That’s why it’s so important for you to read the bible.
We hear that all the time – read the bible, memorize the scriptures. But how many of us actually go and do it?
In John 12:26, Jesus says,
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit. whom the Father will send in my name. He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance, all things that I said to you.”
The Holy Spirit wants to teach you the things of God. He wants to teach you how to walk out the supernatural life that He has called you to live. He wants to give you warnings.
Just the same way that the Holy Spirit has warned Joseph in a dream that they get it apart because they want to kill baby Jesus. And so they fled to Egypt.
The same way that the Holy Spirit can give you divine warnings and connections with other people, whether it’s in your work, in your school, or whatever is going on in your life, God wants to give you warnings and dreams. He wants to speak to you, and many times it’s through the Word of God.
But if you don’t know the Word of God, if you have not memorized them, then He cannot speak to you in as much as you can speak to other people. If you feel like you may have walked out some of the things that we talked about, maybe because you need the power from on high, the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
When you believe in Jesus Christ, did you know that you also need to believe in the baptism of fire, which is the baptism of the Holy Spirit?
In fact, John the Baptist says that “I baptize you with water, but the One coming after me, whose sandals I am not worthy to take up and Jesus will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
Today, when you repent and trust in Jesus, He gives you the Holy Spirit that dwells in you. But you also need to be immersed fully in the fire of the Holy Spirit so you can walk out the supernatural life.
Be blessed, in Jesus’ name!
