"I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me." Galatians 2:20
4 Rapture MISTAKES You Must AVOID

I was wrong about the rapture 10 years ago. And in this blog post, I want to share with you five lessons I’ve learned since then.

Because especially in the time that we’re living in right now, when you look at the world events, you look at the world news, we know the coming of Jesus is at hand. So this blog post will share with us and encourage us how to look forward to the coming of Jesus without going down the pitfalls that I’ve personally gone through.

Of those five lessons, four of them are bad, and the last one, the fifth one is good and it would encourage you. So make sure you stick with me until the end.

The backdrop of this story actually started in 2009. There weren’t even a lot of YouTube channels talking about the things of God. There were some, but there are people who started to talk about rapture dreams. And so I started to look at this because my church didn’t really talk about the end times.

So I started online going on different forums, sites, blog posts, and on YouTube. People are saying,

“Oh, I had this dream.”

“Oh, I had that dream.”

“Jesus is going to come back on this feast.”

On all these days that they calculated from 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, all these three or four years culminated, I was looking for the coming of Jesus. Because I was sure that Jesus was going to come back because I was thinking “Man, there has to be.” because the world is in such chaos, in such turmoil. The same feeling we have today, thinking that Jesus is going to come back.

By the way, did you know that back in the 1980s when I was actually just born in the 1980s when the people were thinking that Jesus going to come back? But then Jesus didn’t come back yet. And so today, there are a lot of people who had a bad taste in their mouth when you talk about the end times, because they haven’t seen Jesus come back.

Lesson 1: Do Not Believe in Specific Rapture Dreams

And so this is the first lesson in pitfall I want you to learn and avoid, and that is not to believe in specific rapture dreams or certain dates of when the rapture is going to happen.

The bible makes it very clear that on that day, that very hour no one knows except the father God. (Matthew 24:36)

We should know the times. We should know the seasons because we’re not the sons of darkness. We are the sons of the Light. We should know that when it’s near, even knocking on the door. But no one knows exactly when. Because the problem is when you start zoning in on a certain year, a certain date, your whole mind is captured by, “Oh man, it’s going to happen right here. This dream says.”

So this person has so many dreams and you start to have this thing called CONFIRMATION BIAS. You start to look for certain dreams. People saying, “Oh, it’s going to happen this year, this month.” And so it’s all you can think about and your mind is consumed with that particular date.

But is that really healthy?

Is that really how you should live your Christian life?

I can tell you from personal experience, that is not very healthy. Because that brings us to lesson number two.

Lesson 2: It Practically Affected My Family

The next pitfall is that it affected my family practically. What does that mean? It meant that because I was so sure that on a particular year, especially in that time 2011, 2012 is going to happen around then that I started giving a lot of things away.

Now that’s not actually a bad thing, you want to depossess, give money away, give material things away, because Jesus says do not store for yourselves treasures here on earth, but store it up in heaven. So I was glad to do that. I felt like God want me to give to certain ministries, certain organizations, that was great.

But it is because I was so certain that I was going to be this in one or two years, I started giving to the fact 1
that I think I over gave to a point that I didn’t plan for the future. Around that time was when my first daughter was just born. And so I was living on this one or two years of reserve that I had in the bank and I said “Okay, you know what? Because I have enough time, I’m just going to give things away. I’m going to live on this couple of years of reserve.”

And guess what? A couple of years went by and I start to see this bank account dwindling little by little, a little by little lower and lower and lower. And so as my expectation of the rapture that “should” come didn’t come. I thought to myself, what am I going to do now? I got a family to support. This is my job as a father in the home. I’m going to provide for my kids, fight for my family.

And so I got back into business. I had to restart my business from the ground up because I stopped basically all operations. I thought that was going to be it. This is what you don’t want to do because you don’t want to live your life that you stop all the operations, stop all the kingdom business that you’re doing and earthly business you’re doing to support your family, whether it’s your job or serving in the church. You stop all that because you’re thinking it’s going to be a specific date. That’s dangerous because you’re affecting your family practically.

Lesson 3: It Affected My Effectiveness for The Kingdom

And so number three, the third lesson is that it affected my effectiveness for the kingdom. Because at that time, I had to build up my business again. I need to bring money in. I need to help my family, support my family. That’s the time and I really focused on growing the business and it took away my time from serving God, took away my time from prayer. And I know it shouldn’t be even when we’re working on a job be nowhere in our minds, we should focus on the things of God.

But sometimes when you’re wondering how you’re going to put food on the table, then that is what you’re going to be thinking about.  And sometimes when you’re middle of that situation, you forget the promise of God in Matthew 6:33, which says

“Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”

And so that definitely affected my effectiveness for the kingdom of God. And not only that it affected my love for God because I was distracted, I was busy with the things of the world. I can remember at that time because my background is in online marketing, promoting different businesses.

I had to go and start looking for clients. I have to cold call. If you’ve ever done cold calling for your business or it’s for your church or any other cause. You know that it is one of the most difficult things to do because it’s humiliating. You call one after another. You tell yourself, you know what, it doesn’t matter. I’m just going to call 100 people. If that 100 people, 200 people, maybe you want to pick up the phone, maybe one to respond to me and actually become a client. And so I just did that over and over and over again. I can tell you I’ve called hundreds, maybe even thousands or more, I don’t know. Maybe over a thousand.

But God has really blessed me through that time. As you start pressing in, hard-working, and really trying to build a business, I was able to get my first client helping them with local SEO (search engine optimization) and building the business. And God actually blessed me. I was able to help these businesses, I was able to help the accountants, those who are doing mold removal, the roofers, and later on, I found out helping lawyers, especially injury lawyers.

Those are very lucrative businesses because once you bring them a client, they make lots of money. And so I can charge a much higher fee. But this whole process took about a couple of years in order to build it back up. And as I continued to grow my business, God has given me great success. He has blessed me.

Things evolved and I start doing eCommerce, selling things online. And that became super, super successful. But I can tell you that this journey did not come with a cost. It costs me my intimate relationship with God because I know that for a certain time during those years, I was actually living a lukewarm life at best. I was going to church. I was on the worship team, and here and there, I will upload a video on YouTube.

But the thing is, I know deep down in my heart that I wasn’t living the life that God has called me to live. I’m not saying that you can’t be a businessman. Of course, you can. You can do business, you can be a teacher, you can be a lawyer, you can be a politician, you can be whatever that God has called you to be. You can be the person, the parent that God wants you to raise up your children to be Godly, to be righteous on this path. You can do that. But when we’re doing that, we don’t want to be distracted. And I was distracted.

And today, I want you to avoid that heartache because I’ve talked to powerful, powerful ministers of God. Different people I met in the past and sometimes I look at them and they’re like, “Yeah, God really blessed me in the past.” But now they’re living from paycheck to paycheck, you don’t know where their next meal is going to be met. And sometimes you try to help them as best you can. But there are so many people that are in need.

Sometimes you pray to God, “Who can I help?” You want to be in a place where you have an abundance to give. You don’t want to store up all for yourself. Just honestly keep it, keep it, keep it and store it out for yourself and hold everything. You know you don’t want to do that. You want to give. But at the same time, don’t forget that you’re supposed to provide for your family. And if you cannot even make ends meet, it’s very hard to grow spiritually. Because all you can think about is the food that you’re going to put on the table for your family.

Lesson 4: It Put a Bad Taste in My Mouth

And as a result of the journey, the fourth lesson and pitfall we want to avoid is that it put a bad taste in my mouth.

I didn’t even want to believe in things of end times. I don’t want to believe in the rapture anymore because at that time I wasn’t really ready. But at the back of my mind, I’m like, Jesus can come at any moment now. But you know what? I’ve always been thinking, He’s going to come back and he hasn’t come back. So I just focus on my business and focus on things in the world. I live my life in lukewarm faith at best during that time. And I allow myself to have habitual sin coming in, having lust, pornography, things I will indulge myself in.

Because you know what? Sometimes when you feel stressed, when you’re frustrated, or you feel like you’re losing a direction in life, that’s where you go to. You go to that escape. But God has not called us to that.

And I thank God that He pulled me out of that life of sin, and He opened up my eyes and say, “Emmanuel, I did not call you to that life. You have a purpose. And yes, you do have to provide for your family. You do have to do the things that I called you to do. But you cannot just live the way that you’re living now. Because if you do that, you will not be ready at My coming.”

And how many of you are not ready for the coming of Jesus? And how many of your friends, your family, your relatives, how many of the people that you go to church with are not ready for the coming of Jesus? Because they’re doing church, they’re doing the things in the church. They’re leading the worship. They’re giving the money to the church. They’re growing! They seem like a faithful believer, just like how I seem like a faithful believer if anyone looked at me when I was going to church. But it doesn’t matter because God knows the heart.

I can tell you that no matter how successful you seem to be in this world, whether you get recognition at your job, whether everybody is praising you, you have results in the ministry, whether you have a lot of money in the bank, you have zero zero zeros whatever, how many zeros you have in the bank is not going to satisfy you.

Because I can remember telling you that there’s this one day when I was selling in eCommerce so many things. I’m making so much money and the business is growing. I’m looking at my phone and all these Shopify sales coming in. “Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding” If your sold and Shopify, they give you a “Ding” every time a sale comes in and it keeps on coming and keeps on coming in because there are certain products and seasonality. You can sell them for a few month and it’ll be very, very trending and viral and you can make lots of sales. And the sales could be like someone’s salary in a year and you’re making them in sales! Of course, not pure profit. You can take up all the overhead, all the cost and everything.

But the fact of the matter is this. I was making so much money in the business and yet on that night I can remember, I was so frustrated and I was asking myself while driving home, it was snowing and I can still remember that road. I tell my wife all the time. As I drive by the street with a little park on the right side, I’m like, why am I feeling frustrated when I have all the money that I can have, when I have everything I can have, a family and yet I do not feel satisfied?

And the reason I can tell you is this. Because I know I’m not doing the perfect will of God in my life Yes, I can give liberally the money that I have to where God leads me. God wants you and I to do that. But I heard pastor John and he talks about it like this, “It is good, but it is not God.” If you’re doing something that seems good on the outside, it is spiritual, it is doing things for the Kingdom. But it’s not something that God has called you to do. And you know deep down your heart that God has called you to something that maybe it is time to say “God, I relinquish it, I give it up and I say I lay my life down to You and I’ll do what You called me to do.”

Whether God calling you to another country, whether God calling you to stay where you are to raise up your children. Whereas you want to go out and work, but God is saying “Raise up your children because I want you to teach them to raise righteousness because now in this world no one would teach them righteousness.”

Maybe God wants you to be an accountant. Maybe God wants you to be a lawyer to execute righteousness and justice for the oppressed. Whatever God has called you to do, if you’re running away from it right now, don’t run away from God. Because I can tell you from personal experience, only doing what God has called you in your life will fulfill you and we’ll give you everlasting joy and peace and eternal kingdom of Jesus Christ when He returns.

Lesson 5: God Gives You a Renewed Passion and New Direction in Your Life

And so number five, I thank God that the lesson is that God gives you a renewed passion and new direction in your life if you will heed His voice if you listen to Him. The Holy Spirit is not going to force you. He’s always there. He’s always been there. But He’s like “Come back to me. Don’t live the way that the world is living. Come back to me because I have not called My children onto the things of the world, but I’ve called My children to live and walk the narrow path that leads to life.”

A very famous end-time preacher Perry Stone says, “When we’re looking at the coming of Jesus, our attitude should be lived as though Jesus is coming back tomorrow. But plan as though He won’t be coming back still for another 20 or 30 years.” What does that mean? It means that you and I, we’re going to be busy about the Father’s business. We have to plan. We can’t just sit here and be like, “You know what? Jesus is going to come back in this year, two years, three years, whatever it is. I’m just going to have this reserve, make sure I’m good. I prep all this stuff, I’m good. My children are good. That’s fine.”

NO! We can’t do that! We’re going to plan for the next generation and say “How can I raise them up?” Because in 20, 30 years, if my children have grown up now, they have their families, and they get married and you walk them down the aisle. And now they’re having their own families, I wish that they would now take that baton and pass that faith into the next generation.

Because did you know in the book of 1 John 4:3, the Apostle John, 2000 years ago says the Spirit of Antichrist is already here. It is already here, but 2000 years have passed and Jesus still hasn’t come back yet.

So let me tell you this. I believe Jesus is coming soon. I really believe so. And to be honest, I tell you my prayer is “God, don’t come back so fast. Jesus, I need more time to serve You, to do Your will, and not to live in the past life of lukewarmness. I want to live my life on fire burning for You because I don’t want to waste any more time.”

And so the question for you is this.

Are you ready to see Jesus if He comes back today?

Will you be found faithful?

Go ahead and share this with other people who need to hear it.

Until next time.

God bless you!
